Student Devices During Summer

As we prepare for summer break there are a few reminders we would like to share with you regarding student devices during summer.

  • All students grades 2-11 will take their devices home for the summer to support extended learning opportunities. Students attending the Summer Experience will be expected to bring their device with them each day. Others can use the devices at home to continue to work on math skills, access digital books, and more!
  • As you support your student during the summer months, please remember to:
    • Monitor screen time by limiting access to the device to only certain times of the day
    • Have your student use the device in an area where you are able to supervise
    • Keep the device away from water and other dangerous elements
    • Keep the device in a safe place when not in use
  • The Help Desk will be open during the summer months from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday. You can call (619) 732-1400 if you need support or visit the SDUSD IT Support site at http://bit.ly/sdusditsupport. It is expected that your student will bring their device to start the 2022 school year. If you move schools within the San Diego Unified School District, please take the device with you. If you are leaving San Diego Unified School District please return the device to your local school so that it can be removed from their record.

News from Hancock’s Parent Teacher Foundation (PTF)

The PTF is creating the following board positions for the 22/23 school year:  Garden Coordinator & Content Coordinator

Garden Coordinator will serve as a liaison between the PTF and the Sage Garden Organization, as well as our garden teacher Kristina. You will help oversee the garden program and organize any special projects that need to be done, as well as find and help instruct a special team of garden volunteers. If you love/understand gardening, that is a plus but not a requirement. You only need to be organized and willing to help.

Content Coordinator will be responsible for creating and updating all our public content such as messages for the PTF Facebook page and Hancock Happenings (and possibly more in the future). A background in writing or marketing is a plus, but not a requirement. Must be organized, dedicated, and have a good “voice” for writing.

If you are interested in either of these positions, please email [email protected] We look forward to working with you!

USAgain Clothing/Textiles Summer Collection Drive

Along the walkway to our school are two green and white clothing and textile bins from USAgain. What’s Accepted: Clothing items, gloves, hats, belts, purses, linens, blankets, drapes. What’s not accepted: Furniture, appliances, toys, strollers, LEGOs, puzzles, plastic or glass items. During summer months, Hancock can earn a cash prize if we are a top collector in the program. You can put any gently used clothes and shoes into the bins throughout the summer. In addition, for every full bin, 1 tree is planted by the USAgain organization.

Are You Moving Over the Summer?

All families that will not be continuing next year need to notify the office via phone AND come in to the office prior to Wednesday June 15th to sign exit paperwork.
