Labor Day Holiday Sept 6 - No School

Enjoy your long weekend with Monday, Sept. 6th being a holiday.

Health Office COVID Related Protocols

Please understand that student and staff health and safety are a high priority at Hancock and our Health Office is following district set protocols for screening students who are reported ill. Per district guidelines, “If a student develops COVID-19 symptoms or a fever while at school, they will be isolated from other students, and a parent/guardian will be contacted to pick them up.”  For a student to return to school after a reported illness, you must provide a negative COVID test or quarantine for 10 days.  The protocols are different if the student has been known to have exposure to someone who was COVID positive. Please contact our health office with questions. You can also refer to the district website for information. SDUSD COVID Status

Important Forms Due by Friday 9/10

There are two very important District forms we must collect from each family this coming week. Though paper versions are available in the office, the most efficient way to submit these forms is via the PowerSchool Parent Portal. Please be sure you have set up that account. If you do not already have an account set up, a letter should have come home with your student on Friday.  The two forms to complete are:

  • COVID-19 Testing Option Form: Submit your testing option on the “School COVID-19 Testing Option” Form. Note that a “yes” means that you agree to weekly testing at Hancock for your student during the school day.  No means you do not wish to enroll them in this weekly testing. For instructions on how to complete this form, click here or view the district video here.
  •  LCFF Data: The information collected on this form is private and will not be used for any purposes other than to determine if Hancock qualifies for special state funding. For instructions on how to complete the Local Control Funding Formula data, click here.

Breakfast, Snacks and Lunch

Weekly School Lunch Menu   We realize that last week food services switched the food served on Monday and Wednesday. We learned that there was a mix-up district-wide with ordering. Please know that we should be back on track with following the menu from here on out.

Parent Teacher Foundation Meeting:

Please join our first PTF meeting of the year on Tuesday, Sept 7th at 3:15pm via Zoom.  The first 15-20 will be regular board business before they open the floor to the general public. Note that the PTF plans to record the meeting to share for anyone who can’t make it, so if you join the live Zoom meeting you must agree to being filmed. Mrs. Hightower will be available to address concerns regarding the length of lunch.

Here is the link to join live: https://sandiegounified.zoom.us/j/84513445651

Back to School Night

Thursday, September 9th will be our annual Back to School Night. Due to COVID restrictions we still cannot have large events on campus so your child’s teacher will provide information virtually.  Please check with your child’s teacher on the time for your teacher’s Back to School Night.  If you cannot attend please work with your child’s teacher to receive the information that was shared.

Entrance and Exits

Before and After School, TK/ Kindergarten students will continue to meet on the colored dots in front of school: Mrs. Nannini = Orange, Ms. Jacobs = Black, Mr. Le = White, Mrs. Cimins = Green, Mrs. A. Gonzalez = Blue, Mrs. Nguyen = Yellow

Before School, students in grades 1st - 5th are lining up on campus in designated spots once the gates open at 7:35am.

After school, students in grade 1st - 5th exit campus through the designated gates for 1st and 2nd near the 300 building, grades 3rd - 5th through the main gates or through the gates towards the back of the school near the 700 building that leads to Hooper Street behind the school as well as the gates near the 400 building that leads to Taussig Court.  Again we ask all adults to please not enter the back or side gates so we stay within the health and safety guidelines. These are great options to avoid the lengthy driving drop off/pick up line. If you have difficulty with a gate please call the school at arrival (7:35) or dismissal (2:10/12:15 on minimum days) so we may assist you (619-605-3200).

Need to Report an Absence?

If your child will be absent from school, please be sure to report your absence to the office, not just your teacher.  You may report the absence using this google form or you may also call our phone line at 619-605-3200 and press 1 for attendance to leave a message.  Please be specific in your reason.
