Ways to Get Involved in the Hancock Community

Hancock Parent Teacher Foundation (PTF)

  • Are you looking to get more involved in the school? Do you want a say in the planning events and fundraisers or how funds are spent? Come join us! Our VP will be PCSing next month, and our Treasurer will be PCSing at the end of the school year. These are important roles that will need to be filled for next year, but we would like to start training new members early to make the transition as smooth and easy as possible for everyone. We’d really love your help! Please message Sara Davis at [email protected] for more information about joining the PTF or potential future board positions.
  • We are looking for someone who is into woodworking and would like to help out the PTF with a project! We have approval to build a “Little Free Library” and have it in front of the school! We are so excited, but we need a woodworker who can design and execute this project! We have someone who is donating the wood, we just need someone with the tools and know-how to execute. If you are interested, please email [email protected]
  • The PTF has their next monthly meeting on Tuesday Feb. 1 at 3:15p. The meetings are currently being held via Zoom. Here is the information to join:

How to Share Vaccination Status

Are your Hancock students vaccinated against COVID-19?  If so, sharing their vaccination record with our Health Office will greatly assist in our efforts to give you correct return dates if they are out due to a positive COVID-19 test or due to close contact with another positive person. The updated County Decision Tree (see below) allows students to return sooner if they are fully vaccinated. If you would like to share your students’ vaccination card, you can bring it to the front office for us to copy or you can take a photo of it and upload it here.  We will keep this information confidential, at our site only, and will only be used for office staff to assist in verifying absence related decisions.  Upload Vaccination Data and/or Test Results Here

Weekly COVID Testing at Hancock

Please know you may add your child to our weekly Tuesday asymptomatic testing on campus if you have not already done so. You have a few options to sign them up:

Option 1 - If you have already created a Parent Portal account, you can do the required opt-in and consent process in the Parent Portal. Here are those instructions.

Option 2 - Complete forms in person at the Hancock Office

Option 3 - Download these 2 forms and return to school with your child.  Opt-In Form    Consent Form

Note that once you complete this registration, it may take a week or two for your student to be moved onto our testing rosters.

Questions About Staying Home and When to Return?

With the recent surge in positive Covid cases across the nation we would like to remind everyone of the following:

  • If your child has symptoms or is complaining of not feeling well please keep them at home and follow this: e-Decision Tree, updated 1/24/2022
  • If your child has come into contact with a confirmed positive case of COVID-19 please also use the e-Decision Tree, updated 1/24/2022to see if you need to quarantine your child. Please note the return to school date can be more than 10 days if the close contact is with a positive person in the same household.
  • Please note the county updates the decision tree often. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we are trying to keep up with the latest information.
  • Contact the school if your child will be absent for any reason. You may report the absence using this google form or you may also call our phone line at 619-605-3200 and press 1 for attendance to leave a message. Please be specific in your reason.

Set Up a PowerSchool Parent Portal Account

The PowerSchool Parent Portal connects you to your SDUSD student’s records. By setting up an account and adding your student you can view their attendance, trimester grades, and update contact information.  In addition, many district forms are starting to be added to this portal and allows you to complete these required annual forms online instead of on paper.  If you would like to set up an account, please email Dawn Van Boxtel in our office at [email protected].
