Read Across America Spirit Days!

Each year, a Read Across America celebration is held during the week of Dr. Seuss’ birthday. This year’s celebrations will be held Feb 28-March 4. To celebrate, Hancock PTF is inviting students to come to school each day dressed as that day’s Dr. Seuss book.

Monday-Cat in the Hat Day (wear a hat)

Tuesday-Fox in Socks Day (wear silly or mismatched socks)

Wednesday-Sleep Book Day (wear pajamas)

Thursday-On Beyond Zebra Day (wear a shirt with an animal or animal print)

Friday-Green Eggs and Ham Day (wear green)

Also, the PTF would like to encourage students to play a game of BINGO. Fill out one row or fill the whole card. Have fun and post your BINGO card in the PTF Facebook group page when finished next week

Free Shoes for Students and Siblings

Throughout the year, various community organizations provide our school with a great amount of donations which include clothing, shoes, backpacks, books, school supplies, food, and more. This spring we have partnered with the organizations Shoes That Fit and The Church at Rancho Bernardo, who will provide shoes to our students, whether they have a parent on deployment, have multiple children in the household, are experiencing any type of hardship, or have just grown quickly and need a new pair of shoes!

Hancock is so fortunate to have partners like these who have the desire and ability to assist our amazing military families, so we encourage you to receive these offerings! Please fill out this form and click "submit" so we can provide your children (siblings included, whether or not they attend Hancock) with shoes!

ADAPT Family Resources

ADAPT is the first research-based parenting program developed specifically to assist military families with school-aged children.  The Military Family Life Counselors (MFLC) in the Tierrasanta area would like to host an ADAPT parenting program in the area.  See Flyer for more information or contact our MFLC, Mary Bellos at:  [email protected] if you have any questions.

Lost and Found Fridays!

Starting this week, we will be rolling out the rack of jackets and sweatshirts that have been piling up in our Lost & Found. After school each Friday, watch for the racks to be near the main gate so parents can look for student lost items.

California School Parent Survey - Your Input is Needed

The CalSCHLS system is a tool for our district and school to collect quality local data which can be used to improve student academic performance and social-emotional, behavioral, and physical health of all youth. Your participation is voluntary. It is also very important. The information you provide will help guide efforts to promote safety, enhance learning supports, and improve student achievement.  The survey window is open until March 25, 2022.  Please follow this link to take the survey: https://wested.ugam-apps.com/wed/ts/Ncya.  Your data is anonymous and questions apply to Hancock only. If you have more than one child at this school, you will only need to complete one survey for this school. Please fill out just one survey about the school using your oldest child as a reference.

Core Academy Saturday Mar. 12

Does your student have absences to make up? Could he/she use some extra academic support?  Core Academy not only provides students with an opportunity to receive additional instruction in various core subject areas, but it also gives students the ability to make up one full day of absence and up to 4 tardies!. The instruction during these Saturday sessions is led by Hancock teachers.  The next session will be Saturday, March 12 from 8:00a to 12:00p. We will be offering this to students in grades 2-5 only. Spaces are limited. Additional sessions will be offered each month. Note that students will be provided a free breakfast snack during the session. Parents must pick students up promptly at noon.
