Parent Teacher Conferences - Early Dismissal All Week Mar 20-24

During the week of March 20-24 (Monday - Friday) each day will be a minimum day in order to accommodate parent/teacher conferences.  Each day will be like a Thursday, dismissing at 12:00 for Kindergarten and 12:15 for grades 1-5.  Please make any childcare arrangements if your child is not already in Prime Time, ASYMCA, MCKC or MCYC.  If you have not signed up for a conference please contact your child’s teacher on how you may sign up.

Trimester 2 Awards

On Friday, Mar 24th, Hancock students will be recognized in Citizenship and Attendance at our Trimester awards assembly.  The assemblies happen throughout the morning depending upon grade level. Your student’s teacher will send home an invitation if your child is on the list for receiving an award. Please follow the instructions on the invitation for arrival times and where to wait prior to the ceremony starting.

 Students Who Eat Breakfast

If your student eats breakfast at school once they are finished eating they must remain in the eating area (auditorium or lunch tables) until it is time to line up at 7:45. Once students are on campus for the school day they become the responsibility of the district. Students have been arguing with the breakfast supervisors and exiting the auditorium area to line up outside the front gates. There is no student supervision outside the front gates before school. If your child eats breakfast at school please let them know they are expected to remain inside the school for the day.

Snacks/Food

Hancock Elementary School encourages healthy eating. Students are not allowed to share food during snack or lunchtime. Please be mindful when sending snacks and/or lunch to school with your students. We discourage sugary snacks that may distract from student learning. Gum is never allowed at school. The first time a student is caught with gum they will be asked to throw it away. The second time a student is caught with gum they will be asked to throw it away and the parent/guardian will be contacted.

Family Literacy Program

SAY San Diego in partnership with Words Alive will be offering a "Family Literacy Program," where families with students in grades 1st through 3rd will receive an upcoming class series to support strong readers among your students through storytime, crafts, games, and songs. Students who enroll in the program will receive books through their participation and parents will learn new strategies to engage your little learners in developing a love of reading! Parents who are interested should sign up with this link: https://forms.gle/EsbXwgMqkFqriq1d6  to ensure we identify the best way to get your family involved in this program. Should you have questions, please contact Danny Romero at SAY San Diego: [email protected] or 858-810-8259.

Annual California School Parent Survey

Hancock Elementary School is asking parents to please participate in this annual ONLINE SURVEY so your opinions about our school can be heard. Your participation is voluntary. It is also very important. The information you provide will help guide district and school efforts to promote safety, enhance learning supports, and improve student achievement.

  • This is an anonymous survey.  It is designed so that no one can be identified from the data.  You do not have to respond to any questions that you feel could be used to identify you.  Simply skip any such questions.

  • All questions apply to this school only.

  •  The results are for the use of your district.  The California Department of Education and WestEd will preserve data confidentiality and refer any data requests to the district.

  •  If you have more than one child at this school, you will only need to complete one survey for this school. Please fill out just one survey about the school using your oldest child as a reference.

(Please Complete by Friday, March 24)
