Lunch Menu Changes

From time to time, lunch menus are subject to change with short notice. This is due to seasonal offerings by the district’s Food Services and also can be the result of food item shortages. If your student is particular about school lunch please be prepared with a lunch from home. The salad bar will always be available.

Holiday Grams

Our School Safety Patrol will be selling Holiday Grams next week Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday in front of the school from 7:30-7:45 and for 15 minutes after school.  (Not on Wednesday).  Holiday Grams will be a holiday themed sweet treat for $1 each or $20 for a class set.  They will be delivered to the classroom no later than Thursday, Dec. 15th. Send a treat to a friend, teacher or someone special.

Flag Assembly This Week

On Thursday, Dec. 8, come join us on the central quad for a whole school flag salute and student award presentation.  Assembly starts at 7:55am.

Trimester 1 Awards Assembly Dec 16

At the end of each grading period/trimester, teachers select a few students to be recognized for demonstrating exceptional citizenship. In addition, Hancock recognizes students who have “perfect” and “terrific” attendance. Perfect attendance means the student has not missed any days, and has not left early or arrived late. Terrific attendance adds the group of students who were absent for all or part of a day but “made up” those days at a Core Academy/Saturday session or completed an Independent Contract. Our first Trimester Assembly is happening on the last day before Winter Break. Friday, Dec. 16. The presentation times are divided according to grade level. Parents will receive invitations if their student is being recognized.

Parent Teacher Foundation (PTF) News

  • Penguin Patch Kids’ Holiday Shoppe is starting this week! The PTF hosts this in the Eagle's Nest (Rm 702). From December 5th to the 15th, every child at Hancock will receive the opportunity to shop at our Penguin Patch Holiday shop for their family. All the teachers have signed up for a slot, so check with their teachers for the date. Students also were sent home with a flyer and envelope to send money with them on their shopping day. PTF is also still looking for volunteers to help out! • Winter Movie Night - December 9th is our Winter Movie Night Party! It is FREE and will run from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The movie starts at 6 p.m. Come join us for some games, hot chocolate or apple cider, and a gift card raffle! We will have various gift cards available from Target, Vons, the Commissary and Nex! We will also have 4 tickets to the Midway available for the raffle! Each family will receive 3 raffle tickets at no cost and will need to fill out their name and cell number on the back. The raffle tickets can then be placed in any of the buckets in front of the gifts on the table, and PTF will pull names at the end of the night. They will text you if you've won, and arrange pickup if you have to leave early. We will also need volunteers to help with this event as well! There will be 2 shifts: 5 - 7 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. Please sign up to help here. We are excited to have you come and enjoy a winter night with the PTF! We will also have books available for the kids and an ornament to take home with you as well. We want to give back to our school community, and help you as much as we can this holiday season. From our hearts to yours.
