School Staff Changes

It is with a heavy heart that the Hancock community bids farewell to Mrs. Hallaran, who will be leaving her teaching position as of September 20th for personal and professional reasons. We will also be saying goodbye to Ms. Hofstetter, who has provided invaluable Special Education services, due to a lower-than-anticipated number of students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) this school year.

Both Mrs. Hallaran and Ms. Hofstetter have been essential members of our team, shaping the lives of our students through their passion for teaching, dedication, and kindness. We are deeply grateful for the years they have committed to Hancock and the lasting positive impact they have made on our community.

With Mrs. Hallaran's departure, we are pleased to announce that Ms. Clark, who was initially set to leave due to lower enrollment, will be taking over Mrs. Hallaran’s classroom and students. Over the past few weeks, Ms. Clark has already been working with the class to familiarize herself with the students and the daily routines, and she will officially assume her role on Monday, September 23rd.

We appreciate everyone’s support as we extend a warm farewell to Mrs. Hallaran and Ms. Hofstetter, while also welcoming Ms. Clark back to the team.

Our district provides devices for students in grades 2-5 as part of the district’s 1:1 device program. Students in grades 3-5 are permitted to take their devices home daily to continue their learning outside of school.

Student use of these devices is governed by the San Diego Unified School District's (SDUSD) Acceptable Use Policy. For more details, please refer to the policy here. While connected to the SDUSD network, students are automatically blocked from accessing certain websites to ensure a safe online environment. As a reminder, SDUSD is legally required to limit, review, and monitor student files on network computers, cloud platforms, and student internet activity, including when SDUSD devices are used at home. Breakfast at Hancock Exit to Campus

We love that our families come to sit with their students for breakfast at Hancock and support watching their students.  Please note that if you come to breakfast you may not exit the auditorium until 7:35 AM.  The morning duty staff will let you know when it is time to leave.  This is for safety and liability reasons as we do not have staff on duty on the playground until 7:35 AM.
