UTK and Kindergarten Begin Full Day Schedule

This week, all students will be back on the regular school schedule. UTK and K will be dismissed beginning at 2:00 (12:00 on Thurs).  Thank you to our families for accommodating the early release dates to transition our littlest eagles into the full days.

Back to School Night August 29th

Hancock’s Back to School Open House will be held this Thursday, August 29th. The event will be held in the classrooms beginning at 5:00pm. At 5:30, the bell will ring and parents will be able to rotate to another classroom if they have multiple students.  Watch for details from your classroom teachers.  Back to School Night is mostly intended for teachers to have time with parents. We understand that children may need to come if you cannot find child care.  If students are coming they must remain in the classrooms.  Students are not allowed on the playground unsupervised due to safety and liability issues.

Back to School Packets

Back to School Packets were sent home with your students last week. Please take care that you review the packets and return all required information this week. The following forms must be completed and returned:

  • Blue - Enrollment verification form: Review data, make any changes, and sign the back where indicated

  • Goldenrod - Health Information: This form must be updated every year. Please complete and return

  • SDUSD Facts for Parents: Tear out and return the Universal Form on page 26

  • Hancock Handbook: Tear out and return the acknowledgement page 20

If you have any questions or need additional forms, please contact our School Clerk, Amanda Ogle, in the front office.

Hancock is Hiring Hourly Staff for 2024-2025 SY

Hancock is looking for hourly staff to assist with supervising students at lunch and recess. The shift is typically 11:00-1:00 on an “as needed” basis. Occasionally, before and after school parking lot supervision is included. If you are interested, contact Dawn Van Boxtel in the front office to learn how to apply. We always welcome cleared volunteers to assist with student supervision during lunch as well. This is a great opportunity to “check out” the noon duty position before applying to see if it’s something you would like to do.

Dropping Off Items for Students

A reminder that our policy for items dropped for students after the start of the school day is that after 9:00 am we cannot guarantee items will make it to students in a timely manner.  We ask that you make every effort with your child to check before they leave the house in the morning that they have everything they need for the day. This includes chromebooks, lunch boxes, and water bottles.  When parents have to drop items off at the office for students, we make every effort to get the items to the student.  However,we need to minimize interruptions to instructional time and staff may not have staff available to deliver directly to classrooms. We appreciate your assistance with this matter.

Lunch Menu Update

The school district has informed us that sttarting this Thursday 8/29, the Mandrin Chicken option will no longer come with rice. It will be served with a Dinner Roll until further notice.

District Cell Phone Policy

Please be sure to read this letter from our district Superintendent regarding the district’s cell phone use policy for all students. Our school’s policy (in the family handbook) mirrors and follows district guidelines.
