Thank you for encouraging students to follow all testing protocols and try their personal best.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. San Diego Unified is recognizing mental health all week with the 3rd Annual Mental Health Matters Spirit Week the week of May 20-24. Students will be invited to dress up each day for the theme "Mental Health Matters." Please see the flyer for each day's theme. Students will learn and practice mindfulness exercises from the morning announcements and be introduced to other important mental health topics to enhance our school community! Camp Invention Summer Camp at Hancock

Hancock has exciting news! We will be hosting Camp Invention, a STEM summer camp sponsored by the National Inventors Hall of Fame. Camp will be one week, 8:00am - 2:00pm July 22 - 26.  We will be offering a limited enrollment for FREE, thanks to a program grant for military affiliated families. If you would like to apply for this scholarship, Enter the lottery here. If your child/children are granted the scholarship, you must commit to attendance the entire week.   Please direct any question to Dawn in the Front office or Mr. Churchill. Winners will be announced by May 30th with registration information provided at that time.

Hancock Read-A-Thon Continues

Let’s get ready for a summer of reading and raise money for our school while we do it!  View the digital flyer here.  We have teamed up with Get Movin’© to make this event fun and easy to fundraise with online mobile friendly technology!  All monies will fund family nights, field trips, assemblies, extra curricular activities and much more! Thank you for your support!

Give Back Fridays This Month

We have 2 opportunities for you to “Give Back” to our Hancock teachers and staff by donating your time! We welcome you to visit our “Eagles Nest” during the school day on May 10 and/or May 24 to work on any projects our staff have ready for you. You can work on your own time, as few or as many hours as you have to give. Non-school-aged children are welcome to play while you work, and snacks are available!  Contact Ms Abi with any questions or see the attached flyer.

LCFF Data Forms

Each year the district collects information from our students' families to support the Local Control

Funding Formula (LCFF). The LCFF is legislation that directly affects how or schools are funded, how they are measured for results, and the services and supports they receive. Collection of your income data begins now for the 2024–25 school year. Responses to a very short questionnaire may be submitted through the Parent Portal in PowerSchool, via a parent-specific link in an email from SurveyMonkey, or via a paper survey sent home with your student. Parents should respond only once per child, and all responses will potentially increase the district's opportunity to receive funds from the state. The information is kept confidential and only used for allowed purposes.

Hancock students whose parents have not completed the Parent Portal or Survey Monkey online survey will receive a paper survey form this week. Please us #2 pencil or blue/black ink only and return to your child’s teacher no later than May 31st. If you prefer to do this online, you can go to your Parent Portal account and complete the 24/25 survey there. If you do the survey on Parent Portal, please return the blank paper form with a note at the bottom that it was done on Parent Portal. For assistance with Parent Portal, please contact Dawn in the Hancock Office.       Letter to Parents about the LCFF Data Collection English  Spanish
