Trimester 1 Awards Assembly Dec 8

At the end of each grading period/trimester, teachers select students to be recognized for academic achievement. In addition, Hancock recognizes students who have “perfect” and “outstanding” attendance. Perfect attendance means the student has not missed any days, and has not left early or arrived late. Outstanding attendance adds the group of students who were absent for all or part of a day but “made up” those days at a Core Academy/Saturday session or completed an Independent Contract. Our first Trimester Assembly is happening this week, Monday Dec. 8th. The presentation times are divided according to grade level. Parents will receive invitations if their student is being recognized.

Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease

We are sharing information from our Nursing & Wellness Dept regarding Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease. We are seeing several incidents among our students this month. We want to be sure families have a description of the viral disease and what to look out for. Please err on the side of caution if your child shows symptoms such as fever, mouth sores, sore throat or lack of appetite or energy.  This is particularly contagious through bodily fluids. Please do not send your student to school if they are sick. Here is a write up with further information.

Family Friday in TK & Kindergarten

This Friday, we invite you to join your TK or Kindergarten student for Family Friday in your child’s classroom. Family Fridays are a special opportunity for you to participate alongside your student, see their learning in action, and share in the classroom. Friday, December 12th, Gates will open at 1:40 p.m. and you will sign in at your TK or Kinder student’s classroom. Flyer

Hancock Families — Thank You!

We are excited to share that we have reached 75% participation in our Needs & Assets Assessment! Our goal is still 100%, and we’d love to hear from every family. Your feedback shapes so many of our programs, from food distributions and vaccine clinics to deployment support groups, wellness events, and more!

Congratulations to our three raffle winners, selected using a random name picker:
1. Jatye Oldham 2. Franky Navarro 3. Ana De La Luz

We will also be sharing highlights from the data we’ve collected to show how your voices directly guide the work we do. If you haven’t completed the survey yet, there’s still time — and we may be able to offer additional incentives in the future depending on funding!

Minimum Days Both Thurs and Fri (12/18-12/19)

Please make a note that Friday 12/19 is a minimum day with early dismissal at 12:15. Please plan ahead to be sure you have after school care arrangements.

Winter Break Begins Monday Dec 22nd

All SDUSD schools are closed from December 22 - January 2nd. School resumes Monday January 5th.

*A big thank you to Hancocks’ School Safety Patrol who will be purchasing yearbooks for ALL 5th Grade students this year!  Funds raised with Boo Grams and other fundraisers will cover this cost for our 5th Grade. Families will not need to place an order for these. All 5th graders will receive yearbooks when they are delivered in the Spring.

Moving Soon?  We Need to Know!📦🚚📤

We know this time of year is getting not only into the Holiday Season, but also “PCS Season”. If you and your family have upcoming orders during November or December, please be sure to let our School Clerk, Ms. Ashley, know about your tentative date. This allows us to prepare for the transfer of records and track outgoing and incoming students. You can stop into the office or contact her at 619-605-3200, Option 2 or [email protected].

Need to Report an Absence? 🤒

Communication with our Attendance Clerk, Ms Shauna, is important if your student is absent for any reason. Per San Diego Unified policy, if you do not report the reason for the absence to the office within 5 school days, even if it was for an excused reason (illness, medical or dental appointments, funeral services, military ceremonies, etc) it will automatically be changed to an unexcused absence. Please be sure to report the reason for the absence every time. You can do this 24/7 either online or by phone @ 619-605-3200 Option 1.
