Minimum Days All Week and Upcoming Fall/Thanksgiving Break 🕐📅🔔

This coming week, Nov 17-21, our teachers will be meeting with families to review their students’ first grading period progress. In order for teachers to have time to meet with all families, the entire week will be early dismissal (minimum day dismissal of 12:15). Please be sure to make any necessary childcare arrangements for the week.

All schools in the district will be on Fall Break the entire week of Thanksgiving (Nov 24-28)

Fall Book Fair Information📚 📖 📕

Most classes have visited our Fall Book Fair with their classrooms during their library time and were able to choose a book for free!  Some classes and students may have a make up day this week. This modified format was decided for our Fall Book Fair based on feedback from families after the government shutdown. If you or your family would like to, you can still shop the fair virtually until the end of this week here:  https://www.scholastic.com/bf/hancockelementaryschool3  Our regular Scholastic Book Fair will return in the Spring.

Be the Voice of your Community- Community Schools🙋🙋🏻‍♀️☑️

Hancock Elementary has been a proud Community School for four years, and we’re launching our second Needs & Assets Assessment to hear directly from you. This short, 15-question survey helps us understand what our students and families truly need to succeed.

Thanks to your past input, we’ve expanded support like noon duty supervision, guidance assistance, gardening, and more. Now we need ALL families to participate so we can continue building the resources our community deserves.

Community Schools ensure that students, families, and community members are full partners in every decision that affects teaching and learning.
👉 Please take the survey and make your voice count! https://forms.gle/paxqwNTgmhHuFpCT6

Parent Portal Closed 🔒 🚫

Our PowerSchool Parent Portal is temporarily closed while teachers input grades in preparation for upcoming Parent Teacher Conferences. We apologize for this inconvenience since the timing interferes with parents being able to complete the annual district Universal Form and LCFF forms through this portal. During this temporary closure, you can get paper copies of these forms from our front office.

Sticky Fingers Holiday Baking- Hancock Elementary (Grades 2–5)

We have 5 spots left! If your child is interested in being considered for our 3-week Holiday Bake event,

Sticky Fingers Cooking is offering five remaining scholarship spots.  Selected students will participate on three dates—December 2, December 9, and December 16.  Space is extremely limited, and only five students will be selected for this opportunity. Interest Form Selections will be at random, and parents will be notified on Friday, 11/21, if their student is chosen.

Moving Soon?  We Need to Know!📦🚚📤

We know this time of year is getting not only into the Holiday Season, but also “PCS Season”. If you and your family have upcoming orders during November or December, please be sure to let our School Clerk, Ms. Ashley, know about your tentative date. This allows us to prepare for the transfer of records and track outgoing and incoming students. You can stop into the office or contact her at 619-605-3200, Option 2 or [email protected].

Upcoming After School Sessions

Young Engineers - Lego Club 🧱

This session is Transportation and Aviation focused. Students build transportation and aviation motorized LEGO models using specially designed kits to demonstrate the scientific principles taught in the lessons. Classes will run on Fridays from 2:15-3:30 starting December 5th.  See flyer for details.
