Hancock Happenings

Week 2 - Sept. 7 - 11

Labor Day Holiday - No School

Monday, September 7th is a school holiday!

Welcome to Online Learning with your Teacher

A big thank you to all of our families for sticking with the first week of school learning menus and allowing our teachers some time to receive professional development on implementing online learning as well as strategies that work for both online and in person teaching and learning.  Another big thank you to our teachers, staff and Parent Teacher Foundation for making the first week of school a success!  We look forward to next week where you will have the opportunity for more time with your teacher in whole group and small group learning.

Have a Health Related Question?

Nurse Brandi Valdez and our Health Technician, Kirsten Sturrock will be available in a virtual format until schools reopen.  Please see information on how to reach them and other useful health related information on this link:  They will have office hours if you want to pop in, a Google Voice phone to reach them at, or email addresses you can send questions to.  Some of the information is to be determined.  Nurse Brandi will update them as soon as she is able.

Need to Report an Absence?

Reporting absences will still be required by state laws.  If your child will be absent from online learning please be sure to report your absence.  You may use the link below to report.  You may also call our phone line at 858-496-8310 and put in extension 115 to leave a message.  Please be specific in your reason.  You are  not limited in words.  If your child is sick please let us know if it’s a fever, diarrhea, broken limb, etc.  If you are doing something personal it helps to know if it is a bereavement, promotion ceremony, family time due to deployment, etc.  Each situation is coded differently and we cannot assume what your situation is.  If you have a COVID related absence we can also assist with making sure the information stays confidential, but is necessary in reporting numbers to our district’s leadership.  Here is Google Form to report absences:

Annual Notifications Form

Due to our inability to collect paperwork physically we will be completing forms online through a Google Form this year.  Please review the district’s Facts for Parents Handbook English:  Facts for Parents  Spanish:  Información para padres and then be prepared to complete the form that will answer all required questions this year for the Universal Form on the back of the Facts for Parent Handbook as well as the annual Health Form.  The responses only return to the office staff and nurse which would normally be collected by paper.  The Google Form can be found here:   and we appreciate your cooperation!

Internet or Device Problems During Class

We know the internet in everyone’s home is not always working the best and sometimes students drop out or have trouble connecting.  Don’t let yourselves get frustrated.  Email your teacher about the issue.  If you can send a picture of the problem that might help if it’s a device connectivity problem.  As long as students make their best effort to participate in online learning activities both live and submitting work that is all we can ask for.  Don’t sweat it, breathe and take this one day at a time.  We’ve Got This Hancock Eagles!!
