Kids Healthy Heart Challenge - Virtual Assembly 10/29

Hancock is Kicking off a Healthy Heart Challenge with the American Heart Association on October 29th during a live virtual assembly.  You can sign up for the challenge at and search for Hancock.  Then, plan to attend the virtual event 10/29 at 2:30pm via Zoom.  This event is optional, but it is a fun way for students to learn about their heart, what they can do to be heart healthy, and maybe help raise money to help others in need.

This flyer has information about the zoom event and access codes. See doc here

Halloween Drive By In Disguise 10/30

On Friday, October 30 from 9-10 AM, families can join us in a drive-through style costume parade. Come dressed in costume, decorate your vehicles and wave to their favorite staff and volunteers and receive a little treat bag with toys and candy.  Teachers will be providing asynchronous assignments for this day. A big thank you to our PTF for organizing this event and coordinating the candy donations. If you are family that will need to walk up -  we will have a few staff members out in front of the school to say hi to and receive a treat.  For safety reasons we cannot have walkers on the driving path.

Learn About Internet Safety for Your Student

The District Office of Family Engagement is offering a series of workshops to parents wanting more information about keeping their children safe online.  See the flyer with upcoming dates and access information.

Last Week to Make Updates in Parent Portal

As staff gets ready for the end of the first grading period, it is important that we have all of your updated contact information and that you have completed the required yearly LCFF Data Entry updates in Parent Portal.  If you have not made these updates, please log into PowerSchool Parent Portal and select the two options list below from the left hand navigation to make updates for 2020-2021. Note: this does not work on the PowerSchool app, you must log into the website through the link above.

  • Update Your Information: Please make sure we have the most up to date contact information, including email and phone numbers. Submit any changes.

  • LCFF Data Collection:  Hancock receives funds from the state through the LCFF (Local Control Funding Formula) and the district is required to submit information about families through the Parent Portal in Powerschool this year.  Please go to this link and answer the 2 quick questions.

If you have not set up a Parent Portal account, follow directions here.  Contact if you have any questions about setting this up.

If you do not submit the LCFF Data online this week, your teacher will be distributing a paper version of the survey for you to return.

Questions/Concerns About Distance Learning Technology Issues

For technology questions/issues, there are four Technology Support Centers to exchange broken student Chromebooks and for hotspot pickups. We encourage families to continue to call the Family Technology Support Line 619-732-1400 for initial troubleshooting before going to one of the Support Centers. Please view the SDUSD Family Technology Support Center Locations 2020-21 for locations.  The district also has a support website with lots of information and guides for troubleshooting.  This is a very helpful resource for issues you may encounter.
