School Reopening News

Families most likely heard the news that the district is planning on reopening schools on April 12th. Here is a link to one story:  San Diego Unified Reopening Plan

Please know that although every attempt will be made to try and make this a reality for our families it is contingent on three things:

  1. Every eligible employee in the district who wants the vaccine will receive it and have the 2 weeks to allow for the vaccine to take full effect before April 12th.
  2. The county must move from the current purple tier to the next level red tier.
  3. All CDC guidelines for protection for staff and students to effectively be in person are in place prior to reopening.

We have been asked if there are any details of what a day would look like once all contingencies are in place and the answer for now is no - Principals and school staff have not been briefed on what type of return we will have such as half days/full days, alternate days, etc.  We do know that families will be surveyed and those that would like to remain off campus may do so as long as they remain residents in San Diego County.  Families who have moved out of the county will be contacted and unfortunately may not be able to remain with Hancock.  Please know that once more information is available regarding schedules, surveys and a firm reopening date is confirmed Principal Hightower will be in contact.

Any families who still have outstanding immunization records in order to be on campus must complete those prior to having their child return to in person learning once we reopen.  If you have been contacted by our school nurse regarding these please schedule those now so you are eligible for return to school.  Any students who do not have the required immunizations will not be allowed to return in person until those are completed.
