Spring Forward!

Don’t forget to move your clocks forward an hour! Sunday 3/14 we started Daylight Savings Time.

Parent Teacher Conferences

Teachers have been busy grading and preparing for parent teacher conferences at the end of the month.  Please be sure to work with your teacher to find a time to review how your child is doing for this second grading period.

ELAC Meeting 3/16

Did you know that Hancock receives funding based on student attendance?  Did you know that just a few absences each month is considered chronic absenteeism and can decrease a child’s likelihood of graduating from high school?  Please join the English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) on Tuesday, March 16th at 2:30 as we discuss the importance of regular school attendance and take a look at Hancock’s efforts to improve student attendance.  We welcome your participation and feedback!

Immunization Reminders

Families who received an immunization phone call and email reminder must complete those prior to the reopening of school if you would like to attend in person instruction in April. If you have questions please email our school nurse Brandi Valdez at bvaldez@sandi.net or leave a message at her Hancock phone number 619-605-3200 ext 3 at the main menu.

Art to Remember Projects and Ordering

This month, our PTF kicks off their “Art to Remember” fundraiser. Students can create unique artwork with the help of Mrs. Rodenbaugh and their teachers through video lessons. When students are done with the art, families can photograph and upload it to the Art to Remember website. On March 22nd, at 2:30, PTF will host a live Q&A with Mrs. Rodenbaugh to answer any questions the families may have. Watch for more information on that session. If you have any questions about the project or the fundraiser, email hancockeaglesptf@gmail.com.

The deadline for submitting art and getting the FREE SHIPPING to the school is 3/26/21.

Meals Available During Spring Break

Meals will continue to be available at Hancock during our Spring Break.  From Mar 29 - Mar 31 between 12:00-2:00pm, you can drive up to our “grab and go” distribution.

Hancock’s “TreeMachine”

Have you ever noticed this collection bin on the walkway leading to Hancock?  The green and white bin offers a way to give your clothes and shoes a second life. USAgain empties the “TreeMachine” on a regular schedule and 50-80% of collected clothes and shoes are worn again, keeping these items out of our landfills.  On top of that already great purpose, this collection bin is unique because USAgain, in partnership with Trees for the Future, plants a tree every time the bin is filled, which is the reason they refer to the bin on our campus as a TreeMachine!  We accept clothes, shoes, accessories and household textiles in reusable condition.  We do not accept furniture, toys, or non-textile household items. Note that leaving items outside the TreeMachine is considered dumping. Please help us keep our community clean and beautiful and do not leave items on the ground. You can always call the number on the bin if you see it’s full to arrange for the bin to be emptied. Watch for information about the USAgain Earth Month Challenge in April and also know that Hancock earns a small amount of money back from USAgain based on pounds of textiles collected.  You can learn more at www.usagain.com

Parent Teacher Foundation Meeting

Curious about how you can get involved with our Hancock community?  Join the next PTF Monthly Meeting on  March 16th at 4:00pm. The Zoom link and agenda will be posted on the PTF facebook page the day of the meeting.
