Happy New Year and Welcome Back

Welcome back to all of our Eagles and Eaglets.  You should be receiving notifications from  your teacher if you haven’t already regarding this week’s online learning activities and assignments.  Parents please be sure to check your emails in order to be ready for Monday, January 4th for the first week of school for the year 2021.

New Phone Number for Hancock

The district is updating phone systems across our district and Hancock has recently had its upgrade and has a new number which is 619-605-3200.  If you dial the old number it will forward to the new number, but eventually that number will be discontinued.  Please update your contacts for Hancock to the new number (619-605-3200) as soon as possible.

Phase One Continues

At this time we are continuing to provide online education to all Hancock students with a few students who are attending in person appointment based learning or testing.  If you were previously participating in on site learning please check in with your teacher to ensure your days and times remain the same.  Once we have notification from the district that we may begin our next phase of onsite instruction we will be sending information out to families.  We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding during this unprecedented time.

SOARing Eagle Challenge

For those of you who have been at Hancock for a few years you know our biggest fundraiser of the year is the Hancock Fun Run.  Due to the current situation that is not an option this year.  Our amazing PTF still provides so much to the families and students which means we still need to do fundraising.  What are we to do?  This is the official unveiling of this year's fundraiser!  The PTF is announcing the Hancock SOARing Eagle Challenge!  The challenge will begin in mid January so keep checking back as we unveil details about the challenge.  We will be using the same online fundraising platform as years past.  In addition to running/walking, we will have other opportunities for the students to challenge themselves AND raise money for the PTF.

Next Meeting Jan 19th at 4:00p.m.

Details for our next meeting will be coming soon in a future Hancock Happenings.

Questions/Concerns About Distance Learning Technology Issues

Does your child’s Chromebook have technical issues?  When  you call the IT help line below for support, one of the first questions you’ll be asked is have you updated your child’s Chromebook lately?  To do that please come to the school parking lot or bench outside with the Chromebook shutdown.  Not just closed.  Boot up your Chromebook and look for the wireless connection to show it is connected to i21WIRELESS.  RESTART your Chromebook.  Please note:  Do Not Shutdown.  That does not update the computer.  It must be on Restart.  Let it run any updates fully.  Once you are able to login do so and open up Clever or other applications you normally use.  Then RESTART your computer again.  IT informed Mrs. Hightower it takes two RESTARTS (Not Shutdown) in order to fully update your Chromebook.

Call the Family Technology Support Line at 619-732-1400 for initial troubleshooting. Support Centers are available to exchange devices SDUSD Family Technology Support Center Locations 2020-21.  The district also has a support website with lots of information and guides for troubleshooting.  District Technology Support Website
