Monday, Jan. 17th Holiday
There will be no school on Monday, January 17th in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday.
Check Your Email
Due to the sheer volume of notifications that have to be made for close contacts to positive covid cases, our Nursing Department is moving to email notifications. Please note: parents are being blind copied on the emails to protect your identity and your child as health information is protected information. If you need to double check please message your child’s teacher to verify if your child is a close contact if you receive an email and are unsure.
Weekly COVID Testing at Hancock
Please know you may add your child to our weekly Tuesday asymptomatic testing if you have not already done so:
- Complete the opt-in process to allow the testers to conduct weekly testing.
- Register and consent in the Primary.Health Portal in order to be tested.
Driving Near Hancock
A reminder to parents that the speed limit in housing is 15 mph. We especially ask that you are extra careful on the streets near the school (Hammerberg Cove, Brumby Way, Taussig) Students and parents have reported many cars going over the speed limit and almost hitting students walking home from school.
Covid Surge and Update to County/District Decision Tree
With the recent surge in positive Covid cases across the nation we would like to remind everyone of the following:
- If your child has symptoms or is complaining of not feeling well please keep them at home and follow this: COVID-19 K-12 e-Decision Tree
- If your child has come into contact with a confirmed positive case of COVID-19 please also use the
COVID-19 K-12 e-Decision Tree to see if you need to quarantine your child.
- Contact the school if your child will be absent for any reason. You may report the absence using this google form or you may also call our phone line at 619-605-3200 and press 1 for attendance to leave a message. Please be specific in your reason.
Please note the date for close contact exposure can be up to 10 days ongoing from the date the person continues to be exposed to someone positive - especially at home.

Masks Required on Campus
When you are on the sidewalks around the parking lot and in front of the school office entrance, you are on school property. Everyone on school grounds must be wearing a mask. Especially at drop off and pick up, we are seeing lots of family members without masks. Please mask up for everyone’s safety. The San Diego Unified School district is updating the masking policy for employees to a higher grade due to the concerns of this current Covid surge. Currently students must be masked prior to entering campus. Bandanas and neck gaiters are not permitted in lieu of wearing a mask. Students may receive a mask at school if they forget.
New Sessions of After School Programs Begin
At this time, we are still planning to have the following After School Programs start later this month. We will update in upcoming newsletters if the district changes policies allowing these programs.
