Mrs. Anquillano

Greetings Hancock Families! My name is Arlette Anquillano, and I am a 4th Grade Teacher. I have been teaching at Hancock for more than 25 years, and the majority of those teaching years has been at 4th grade. I absolutely LOVE teaching 4th grade for many reasons, but mostly because 4th graders are amazing learners, and I enjoy the curriculum we teach at this level! I was born in Great Lakes, Illinois, and grew up in San Diego, attending SDUSD schools from kindergarten through 12th grade. My dad was in the U.S. Navy, and this is how my family ended up in San Diego, after moving around quite a bit! I understand how challenging it can be, but know that it's always nice to start fresh in a new place! I have been working with students since I was in college, working as a Teacher's Aide for 3 years, when I made my decision to become a teacher. I finished all of my college education at San Diego State University- my Bachelor's Degree in 1992, Teaching Credential in 1993, and Master's Degree in 1999. I started teaching at Hancock soon after I completed my credential. Lucky me! I have a family of 4: My husband, and my 2 boys. We also have 2 loving pets, a cat and dog, named Alina and Mario. As a family, we love attending sporting events for our 2 boys, as well as SDSU Aztec Football and Basketball games. We also enjoy traveling, and going to the movies. I'm so glad to be a part of our staff at Hancock, as this school has been my 2nd home! I love our students, and enjoy seeing their growth in learning throughout the year!

Mrs. Peji

Mrs. Peji

Hello! My name is Myra Peji, and I am new to teaching 4th grade  this year. I have taught for 25 years with San Diego Unified School District, and 24 of them have been at Hancock teaching 3rd grade. The other partial  year was at Oak Park Elementary teaching 5th grade, and four months at McDowell teaching 6th grade.

It’s been wonderful to stay at Hancock, because I do consider them to be like family. The staff is wonderful here, and the kids are so eager to learn and absorb everything that I am lucky to share with them. Just like in third grade, I am finding that fourth graders still love to share stories and aren’t afraid to act silly.

I was born and raised in San Diego, and grew up in Tierrasanta. I attended Tierrasanta Elementary, Farb Middle School, and Serra High. I went to San Diego State and earned my Bachelor’s Degree and Credential there. Then, 5 years later I earned my Masters Degree from National University. I am married, and have a cute little Yorkshire Terrier named Zinger. I also am a Polynesian dance director, dancer, and drummer for my group, Aloha Mai Polynesian Dance Group. So, if I’m not doing school work, I’m usually focusing my spare time doing choreography, instructing, drumming or dancing with my ohana.
